Committees are a great way to engage with community members with similar interests to yours and to get your voice heard by newly elected Council!
While some Committees meet only to provide advice, others also form subcommittees and do hands-on work. Choose a group that matches your interest, capacity, passion, or expertise – whether it be recreation or economic development, transportation or heritage, housing or the environment, there are several BIM Committees looking for new members.

Advisory Design Panel (ADP)
Purpose of the Committee:
The role of the Advisory Design Panel is to provide recommendations with respect to the design, environmental compatibility and finishing materials, including colour of the exterior and all new or proposed renovations or additions, and with respect to siting and landscaping of all plans submitted for consideration in:
- Village Revitalization Development Area
- Village Periphery Development Area
- Any other major development with significant community-wide impacts as directed by Council
Member Commitment:
The committee meets approximately four times a year in the evening (when referrals arise). Members are expected to prepare for meeting discussion by reading the agenda package material in advance.

Community Grants Advisory Committee (CGAC)
Purpose of the Committee:
CGAC provides recommendations to Council on Community Grants that will enhance the quality of life while delivering services economically to Bowen Island residents. Award allocations will be recommended to Council in accordance with the BIM Community Grants Policy.
Member Commitment:
The committee meets annually to review grant applications, as well as possible additional meetings to review policy.

Community Economic Development Committee (CEDC)
Purpose of the Committee:
The Community Economic Development Committee supports Bowen Island community economic development and provides advice to Council regarding such. The CEDC also organizes, facilitates and participates in efforts to implement strategic initiatives.
Member Commitment:
The committee meets several times a year. Members are expected to prepare for meeting discussion by reading the agenda package material in advance and participation in subcommittee work is encouraged.

Finance Advisory Committee (FAC)
Purpose of the Committee:
The Finance Advisory Committee is a select committee that acts in an advisory capacity to council, and final decisions in all matters brought before the committee rests with the Council. FAC acts as a source of support and advice for Council and the CFO with respect to finance related matters.
Member Commitment:
The committee meets every two months on a week day morning. Members are expected to prepare for meeting discussion by reading the agenda package material in advance.

Housing Advisory Committee (HAC)
The Housing Advisory Committee provides Council with advice and recommendations on housing issues to help improve the quality of life, the livability and the working environment for the residents, visitors and businesses of Bowen Island Municipality.
Member Commitment:
The committee meets approximately once a month on a week day morning. Members are expected to prepare for meeting discussion by reading the agenda package material in advance and participation in subcommittee work is encouraged.

Parks, Trails and Greenways Advisory Committee (PTGAC)
Purpose of the Committee:
The Parks, Trails and Greenways Advisory Committee provides advice to Council and Staff regarding the location, development, protection of, and maintenance of our parks, trails, greenways, and waterways. Using the 2018 – 2028 Parks Plan as a guiding document, the Committee provides comments on referrals from Council such as rezoning applications for amenity and landscaping on municipal sites. Committee members also pursue projects which include public education campaigns regarding issues such as invasive plant species and environmentally sensitive areas.
Member Commitment:
The committee meets approximately monthly on weekday evenings. Members are expected to prepare for meeting discussion by reading the agenda package material in advance. Members are also asked to participate in site visits and walkabouts to identify the potential creation and/or preservation of trails, linkages and access to the sea.

Transportation Advisory Committee (BIMTAC)
The Transportation Advisory Committee provides advice and recommendations to Council and staff on transportation services to, from, and on Bowen Island. Using the 2018 – 2038 Transportation Plan as a guiding document, the Committee provides comments on referrals from Council.
Member Commitment:
The committee meets approximately monthly on weekday evenings. Members are expected to prepare for meeting discussion by reading the agenda package material in advance and to volunteer for various action items as appropriate to discussion topics.

Purpose of the Committee
The Bowen Bay Water System Local Advisory Committee has advisory powers to Council regarding water system issues, and also reviews the operating and capital budgets for the utility.
