2025 Budget

Bowen Island Municipality is preparing for the 2025 budget.

You will have opportunities to engage with staff and Council to tell us what you think of the proposed budget, how much the Municipality should spend or save, and to have your questions answered.

The annual budget is part of a five-year financial plan that sets out the planned services and initiatives for the next five years, and how the Municipality will pay for them.

Snow is in the forecast.

Be prepared! Now is the time to:
– Stock up on sand and salt
– Make sure you have a functional snow shovel & ice scraper
– Check your secondary heat source and ensure you have fuel
– Stock up on essentials like bottled water, batteries & medications
– Clean gutters to prevent ice dams
– Clear out culverts to prevent flooding
– Sign up for the Emergency Notification System and receive weather advisories and warnings

How we plow.

The Municipality clears snow and ice from public roads according to the Roadway Level of Service – Winter Maintenance Policy in the following order of priority:

1. Primary routes – main roads and bus routes
2. Secondary routes, once the snowfall has stopped
3. Tertiary routes, after the snowfall has stopped and all other main and secondary roads are passable.

In the event of continual snowfall, it will take longer for plows to reach tertiary routes because primary and secondary roads require additional attention.
