The Bluewater Park water system services about 150 users in the Bluewater Park neighbourhood.
Water for the Bluewater Park system is supplied from four drilled groundwater wells. There is also an interconnecting line from King Edward Bay Water System to augment the supply as needed. Water is treated by flow-paced injection of sodium hypochlorite prior to storage in an 82 cubic metre bolted steel storage tank. The water is tested for chlorine residuals every day and samples are sent to Vancouver Coastal Health once a week.
Help us contact you quickly if we discover a leak
Bowen Island Municipality is currently dealing with leaks at some properties in Municipal water systems. We make every effort to contact the property owners, however in many cases we only have mailing addresses.
Please provide your contact information so that we can contact you by phone or e-mail if we discover high water usage on your water meter.
If BIM identifies a leak, every effort will be taken to contact the property owner. If the property owner cannot be contacted, water will be turned off at the property.
Changes are coming to your water bill
On July 1, 2024, the three west side water systems of Bluewater Park, Bowen Bay and King Edward Bay will all be switching to a quarterly metered rate billing system.
The new conservation-based billing model will result in all residents receiving four bills per year that include a basic flat rate of $324 plus metered rates for all water used, as follows:
Imperial Gallons | Rate per gallon |
---|---|
For the first 4,500 Imperial Gallons used in the billing period | $0.0033 |
For the next 4,501‐9,000 Imperial Gallons used in the billing period | $0.0059 |
For the next 9,001‐13,500 Imperial Gallons used in the billing period | $0.0081 |
For the next 13,501‐18,000 Imperial Gallons used in the billing period | $0.0104 |
For all usage above 18,000 Imperial Gallons | $0.0127 |
Unconnected lots will be billed at a rate of $198 per quarter.
This billing model has been used in the Tunstall Bay Water District for several years now and not
only promotes water conservation, but is efficient to administer, enables leak detection to occur
throughout the year, and spreads the financial impact over a longer period, potentially making
water bills easier to budget for on an ongoing basis.
Residents in the Bluewater Park water system can get an idea of how much they will be paying by reviewing the documents below. Get your account number and reference your average consumption with the sample rates.
