DVP-2022-0226 (834 Captains Way)

Regular Council Meeting

Project Description

Council will be considering an application regarding 834 Captains Way for a development variance permit to reduce the required setbacks to the rear and side lot lines and the setback to the sea to permit a renovation of an existing house that is located within those setbacks.

The property requires a 7.5 metre setback to the rear property line and a 3.0 metre setback to the side property line. There is also a general 30 metre setback required to the sea. To allow for the proposed changes the applicant is requesting the required variance to be varied to: 24.0 m to the sea; 1.32m to the side lot line; and 4.9m to the rear property line

Staff introduced the application to Council at their June 26, 2023 meeting.

The Development Variance Permit application seeks to replace portions of an existing deck, remove some portions, and create a new access point to the lower deck on the property by building a new door and staircase.
