Mayor and Staff met with Signia President and Senior Management on-site on August 22, 2024 to reiterate the significant impact of ongoing delays on Recreation programming and increased costs to the community resulting from additional project consulting fees, extensions of insurance and Municipal Hall operating costs.
To date, all project costs have been completed within the $18.7M budget. Additional costs as a result of delays estimated to be between $200,000 – $300,000 which is approximately 1-2% over budget. Provisions for these expenditures are included in the 2024 Financial Plan and are funded through the use of Growing Communities Funds.
Work on the septic system has been completed. Currently, the contractor is working to:
- complete interior finishings
- replace concrete for walkways and stairs
- address roof deficiencies
- install conduit and outdoor lighting
- lay resilient flooring in the small multi-purpose room and backstage.
Staff continue to meet weekly with consultants and contractors to monitor progress and identify risks of further schedule slippage.
Expected occupancy date is currently mid-October, 2024.
