Election Work Opportunity: Ballot Counter

Bowen Island Municipality is seeking reliable and detail-oriented individuals to assist with ballot counting following the 2026 General Local Election. Election workers play an important role in ensuring a fair, accurate, and transparent election process.

Position: Ballot Counter

Ballot Counters work as part of the election team to count and verify election ballots after voting closes. This role requires accuracy, impartiality, and the ability to follow established counting procedures. Paid training will be provided on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Duties Include:

  • Counting and sorting ballots under the direction of election officials
  • Verifying ballot totals and reconciling counts
  • Maintaining the integrity of the counting process

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and legally allowed to work in Canada
  • Be fluent in writing and speaking English
  • Able to work carefully and accurately in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable performing repetitive counting tasks
  • Available for the full shift on election night

Ballot counters cannot work, volunteer for or be closely related to candidates who are running in the election.

Compensation:

$70 training on October 6, 2026

$125 flat rate for October 17, 2026
