Seeking Public Comment

Bowen Island Municipality has received an application for a Temporary Use Permit (TUP) to operate a non-medical cannabis retail store in Village Square.

The property is approximately 0.07 ha (0.17 acres), is located within the Comprehensive Development CD-2 Zone and is designated Village Commercial. The unit in which the retail store is proposed is adjacent to the Village Baker and is approximately 613 square feet in size, located on the ground floor.

As of October 17, 2018, Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act, created a national framework enabling access to a regulated supply of cannabis. In response to this, the Province established regulatory requirements for private cannabis retail store licences in B.C. The applicant is simultaneously pursuing an application with the Province for a non-medical cannabis retail license.

We are seeking public comment for two applications involved in this proposal:

  1. Temporary Use Permit TUP-02-2018
  2. Provincial Referral 04-2018
