The Youth Centre is open every Friday from 4:00 pm to 9:30 pm, and all youth ages 12-18 are welcome!
The Youth Centre is a part of island history, offering a welcoming space that generations of Bowen youth have called their hangout and second home.
Youth aged 12-18 are welcome to stay for an hour, the whole night or just use the place as somewhere to meet up with friends before going out. You’re free to come and go as you like! During drop-in hours, there’s always something happening—whether it’s street hockey, skate sessions, BBQs, movies, gaming, or just goofing around. Whatever your vibe, you’re sure to find a fun way to spend your time.
Inside, you’ll find a ping pong table, mini-pool, and a big screen TV for movie marathons and multiplayer gaming. If you’re into music, bring your bandmates or come solo to jam with other musicians. We have plenty of instruments on hand, so it’s the perfect place to get creative.
Want to try something new? Friendly Youth Workers are always there to help bring your ideas to life, offer support, or just have a chat. If you’re looking for more private or personal advice, you can talk to a Youth Worker or reach out to John anytime at 604-240-3467.
Come hang out, make memories, and make it your own at the Youth Centre!
The LIT Team is a group of youth volunteers ages 12-17 who support community-oriented events and programs led by Community Recreation. This training series is designed to support the Summer Camp 2024 program, where LITs will help ensure a fun, safe, and engaging environment at summer day camps. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic about working with children, will commit to learning new skills, are respectful towards self and others, and have a positive attitude.
LITs can apply these hours toward volunteer requirements at school, and will gain valuable skills and experience in leadership and self-efficacy. Volunteerism also strengthens your resume and future eligibility to work in other recreation roles like Summer Camp, program facilitation, and youth services. Past LITs are welcome and encouraged to join us again!
2025 Registration Details & Training Dates TBA.
