The Carter Road watermain replacement is part of the Municipality’s proactive program to renew aging water main infrastructure within the Cove Bay distribution system. The existing main along Carter Road has shown signs of deterioration and leaking consistent with its age, and replacement will reduce the risk of main breaks, unplanned service disruptions, and water loss while improving system reliability for residents.

Construction is now underway, with work being sequenced to maintain water service and local access throughout the project; residents along the affected section will be notified, and traffic management measures are in place during construction hours.

Large black watermain pipe section with bolted flange connections installed in a narrow excavated trench surrounded by dense vegetation and ferns. Construction materials, wooden supports, and protective plastic sheeting are visible around the pipe in a forested work area during a watermain replacement project.

The work is being coordinated with the broader Cove Bay Water System improvements , including the recently completed flush intake project and planned treatment plant upgrades , to sequence construction efficiently and minimize disruption to the community.

Once complete, the new main will provide improved flow capacity, pressure stability, and a renewed service life for this section of the main distribution network.
