Are you passionate about public service, positive community interactions, and making Bowen Island a safe and welcoming environment? Bowen Island Municipality is seeking a part-time Bylaw Services Officer to join our dedicated team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on engaging with the public, working outdoors, and making a difference in our island community.
As a Bylaw Services Officer, you will help by educating the public and enforcing municipal bylaws. Your days will be spent proactively patrolling Snug Cove, the ferry lineup, and other public spaces, responding to inquiries, and addressing compliance issues. In addition to bylaw enforcement, your duties will include ferry marshalling, parking enforcement, animal control, and acting as a Wharfinger. If you enjoy independent work and are committed to fostering positive interactions, this role is for you!
We’re looking for candidates with exceptional communication skills, a strong sense of ethics, and sound judgment. Experience in bylaw enforcement, safe dog handling, and conflict resolution is an asset, as is familiarity with municipal bylaws. Training and certifications in traffic control, emergency first aid, and bylaw enforcement will be provided for the right candidate. A Class 5 BC Driver’s License and the ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle are required.
At Bowen Island Municipality, we value work-life balance and take pride in serving our vibrant, close-knit community. If you’re ready to contribute to the safety and well-being of Bowen Island, we encourage you to apply. Let’s work together to make a positive impact!
