2025 Property Taxes
Important Information Regarding Potential Postal Strike
2025 Property Taxes are due by 4:30 pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Please plan ahead, as postal service and financial institution practices affect the timing of when the funds are delivered to the Municipality. Payments received after July 2, 2025 will be subject to a 10% late payment penalty. Mail that is lost or delayed due to the strike will be subject to the penalty.
You should have already received your 2025 Property Tax Notice. If you have not yet received your notice, please contact us as soon as possible on 604-947-4255 ext. 8 or at finance@bimbc.ca.
Property owners are responsible for ensuring taxes are paid by the due date. We highly recommend that you use a method other than mail to make your tax payment this year. If you, or someone you know, need assistance with accessing a payment method that is alternative to mail, please get in contact with us on 604-947-4255 ext. 8 or at finance@bimbc.ca and we can help.
If you are sending your tax payment from outside of Canada, we recommend that you courier your payments to us, or send a wire transfer to ensure that your payment is received on time. Contact us at finance@bimbc.ca for wire transfer information.
How to pay your taxes
Due to the high potential of a Canada Post strike we strongly advise against sending your tax payment by mail this year.
- Online or telephone banking: available at most major Canadian financial institutions. Please ensure that you allow sufficient time for bank processing and clearance of funds to our account. Please use your roll number when asked for an account number during set-up.
- Send a cheque via courier: Cheques can be send by courier to Bowen Island Municipality, 580 Bowen Island Trunk Road, Bowen Island, BC, V0N 1G2.
- Drop box or in person: Drop your cheque off in the mail drop box at the Bowen Island Municipal Offices or come in and pay using cheque, debit, or cash. The Municipal Offices are located in the Bowen Island Community Centre at 580 Bowen Island Trunk Road, Bowen Island, BC, V0N 1G2.
- Mortgage company: If your mortgage company pays the property taxes on your behalf, contact your financial institution to confirm the remittance amount.
- Defer taxes: Defer your taxes through the province at www.gov.bc.ca or call 1-888-355-2700.
- Credit card payment: Available online only. Third party 2.6% service fee applies which is the equivalent to $26 for every $1000 paid. Visit www.bowenislandmunicipality.ca/view-bills/ for further information.
