Opportunity
The Bowen Island Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) is excited to announce an open call public art opportunity for the new Community Centre. The opportunity is to provide a graphic design/artwork to be applied onto selected doorway and window glass areas throughout the Centre. This artwork/design will be reproduced in adhesive vinyl to be applied directly to the glass panels in order to meet safety requirements for visibility.

Eligibility
This opportunity is suitable for artists who have experience in producing artworks in a professional capacity, who are from Bowen Island, and who are available to meet the project timeline.

Budget/Artist Fee
This commission is for new work. Up to two (2) artwork/designs will be selected. Each selected artwork/design will be awarded an artist fee of $750.00. All production expenses and installation of the selected artwork/design will be covered by others and are not the responsibility of the artist.

Selection
Artwork/design proposals will be evaluated by an independent jury panel convened by the PAAC in accordance with the Public Art Program Adjudication Procedure, and successful submission(s) will be determined by same.

Submissions

  • Each artist is allowed to submit up to two (2) artwork/designs in digital format (PC compatible TIF, JPG or PDF, maximum file size of 2MB each).
  • Each artwork/design must:
    • be contained within a single four-inch circle format (to be repeated in a line across the window sections);
    • be a single solid colour to suit the die-cut graphic process; have no elements being less than 1/8” wide to allow for proper cutting procedures. Exact colour options will be limited to supplier availability.
  • Image(s) must be labeled Lastname_Firstname_Titleofwork
  • All proposals must be submitted via email to: publicart@bimbc.ca by Sunday February 11, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
